5 on 15: INVASION

5 on 15 banner

Emma is an amazing blogger over at Scruffy Little NerdHerder. Last year was the start on Emma’s 6 on 6 (in August) and to follow up, she started her new photo challenge, 5 on 15, in August as well. I’m still going to continue both in my own way. I wanted to challenge myself so every month, 5 on 15 will actually be a Photoshop challenge rather than a Photo challenge. I will take only 5 stock photos and Photoshop them into the theme. For the normal rules and the original post, please go to Emma’s original post explaining everything introducing 5 on 15. This months theme is invasion (check out Emma’s 5 on 15: invasion)! I worked on this piece of work on and off throughout the past week. I should really track my time next time so I can track my progress, urg. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?

5 on 15: Invasion

My idea behind this isn’t what you would normally make out from the themed of invasion but I had to make this Doctor Who themed. I added a Police Box, obviously representing the TARDIS off to the side… The Doctor to try to save the girl. She’s sad. She knows her fate. She’s turning to stone… a weeping angel to be. The older mansion seemed to be fitting. Maybe the TARDIS is actually leaving, not coming to save. It’s fading, so is it coming in or out? The girl is obviously not in her own time… How do you interpret it?

All of my stock images were taken from talented artists on deviantART. You can also find my full size, final piece on my deviantART.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures they’ve taken and I hope Emma enjoys my take on her challenge because I definitely see the challenge it will give me.

Keep calm and stay epic,

Kayla

  • This is such a great interpretation on the challenge. I absolutely adore it. I actually think this would make such a great print. It’s so eerie and emotional.

    • Awwww, thank you! I’m glad you love it so much. I can’t wait to continue with this. Using only five stock images is actually really challenging but I love the challenge especially to keep the fit in the category. Making a story behind it and the emotion you want also it just, amazing. I love art in so many different forms. Thanks for the inspiration! <3

  • What a fun twist on the project! I look forward to seeing what else you come up with. Really great start so far. 🙂

    • Awwww thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I plan on putting more time and effort into the next one and cannot wait to see what I come up with. Five stock images is actually a huge challenge though!

  • What a cool twist on the prompt! I love this, and I love that you interpreted the theme and made your own story out of it!

    • Awwww thank you. I’m already thinking next months. I’m so excited. As a cosplay photographer I think this will really help me out

  • This really makes me want to get back into photo editing and making photo collages and stuff like this. Dammit, Kayla, I don’t have any more time in my life! haha

    • You should really do it! You never sleep anyway. Why not do one more productive thing? I mean, who needs your degree when you have ART? There is not Earth without art. (eARTh… hehehe)

  • Wow that’s really awesome!!

  • Lovely twist to the prompt! I see that the pic is quite spooky… I don’t know exactly how to interpret it but she looks kinda sad?

    • Thank you! Interpret as you will. My interpretation is in the post… There’s so many different ways since emotion is much more than skin deep and as a person, she’d probably be feeling a million different things and the situation could be so many different things. I feel like it’d be something shown in the beginning of a Doctor Who episode as one thing and actually be the opposite and you’d find out much later.

  • This is so awesome – love it!
