Fandom Friday Q&A; Harry Potter

I’m super excited for this weeks Fandom Friday Q&A… Why? Because it’s Harry Potter. Let me tell you… 7 books, 8 movies… I can’t just make this a one time thing, so expect another Harry Potter later on. What are some questions YOU want answered?
For those of you who don’t know, Fandom Friday is a Q&A  I set up almost every week. I ask the questions on Monday and pull the questions on Thursday for the post to be up Friday! If you ever want to participate, head on over to my Facebook page. The current week’s question will always be pinned to the top.

Check out these posts from some lovely ladies:

6 Reasons Why Harry Potter is the New Black by Heather over at Life, Love, and Lasagna

My Harry Potter Story by Mariah over at Bizarre Brunette

Misconceptions of Slytherins by Michelle Anneliese over at A Geek Girl’s Guide

Which house would you be in? (I really wanted to say “WITCH house would you be in?… but I’m decent)

Over the years, I’ve taken many quizzes and had my own thoughts. I’ve always thought I’d be in Slytherin or Ravenclaw… always learning more towards Slytherin. As I read through some of the answers I received, I read Emma’s and she mentioned Pottermore… which I had never ACTUALLY signed up for. So I did and low and behold, I’m Slytherin. Slytherin matches my personality/thought process the best and well,I have always loved snakes (Zach cannot stand this, oops).

– Epicfied (Me!)

When I first joined Pottermore, in my teens, I was sorted into Gryffindor – which I was very happy with. After Pottermores re-launch however, I took the quiz again and was sorted into Ravenclaw. I was initially quite perturbed because I thought it meant I’d lost my Gryffindor characteristics, but I soon realised I’d lost nothing, I had only gained the wisdom, creativity and intelligence that I lacked the first time around. I love being a Ravenclaw.

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

Ravenclaw easily. I’m pretty sure everyone wants Gryfindor but I know for a fact I am a Ravenclaw.

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

Definitely Ravenclaw! The traits associated with a Ravenclaw are Intelligence, Wit, Wisdom, Creativity, Originality, Individuality, Acceptance and I feel most of those define me and what I value pretty accurately. I’m definitely a life-long learner, I’ll probably be taking classes, and forcing myself to learn new things for the rest of my life. My wit and sarcasm are my most recognizable traits (and the first thing people usually mention when asked to describe me). When it comes to myer’s briggs personality types I’m an INFJ and I feel like the traits of both align really well

– Stacey (Geeks and Lattes)

Ravenclaw all the way!

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

Ravenclaw

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

Ravenclaw – This house prizes learning, wisdom & intellect; this describes me to a tee.

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

Hufflepuff! It’s what I got sorted into in pottermore and it’s what I’m sticking with

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

Since the first book came out, I’ve been a Ravenclaw.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

So many of you have participated, yay, thank you, but oh my … so many Ravenclaws … o.o

Who is your favorite MAIN character?

My favorite main character … this is so hard. I love Hermione. She’s probably the one I relate with the closest, however, I love Ron… Dumbledore… Snape… I love them all. Out of the main three though, I have to say Hermione would be my favorite… She grew so much throughout the years at Hogwarts and I loved seeing that character development. I don’t know where the original interview is, but here’s a great article on Emma Watson embracing her inner Hermione, rather than ignoring it.

– Epicfied (Me!)

My absolute favourite character is Luna Lovegood. She’s the person I relate to more than any other in the series, and oozes everything I’d look for in a friend.

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

Hermione definitely. It’s nice to have strong, complex, smart female characters in mass media, and Hermione is one of the firsts of my generation.

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

Hermione or Professor McGonagall.

– Stacey (Geeks and Lattes)

I would have to go with Hermione. I love her spirit! And I can totally identify with being studious.

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

Hermione

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

Hermione -I see a lot of similarities between her and myself, plus she can hold her own and is always there for her friends.

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

Hermione is easily my favorite character. She loved her books and she used her intelligence to get the boys out of dangerous situations. She inspired me to keep reading and keep learning and as a child she made a good role model.

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

I had a fascination with Severus Snape from the very beginning because I always had a sneaking suspicion that he was a character with great depth.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Who is your favorite BACKGROUND/MINOR character?

This one, even though I’m not sure they’re actually minor characters… I’m going to choose Snape because he has such an important role in so many ways. Luna Lovegood is also a favorite of mine. Can I choose Norbet(a)? Ohhh, or how about Fluffy? I love all of Hagrid’s pets. <3

– Epicfied (Me!)

I think I’d have to go with Bellatrix (is she a minor character?) I don’t particularly like her as a person, but she is so unbelievably fascinating, and very fun to read.

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

I really love Hagrid. That man has so much love and joy, it’s amazing.

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

Depends on how you define this but Nearly Headless Nick, Headwig, or Dobby.

– Stacey (Geeks and Lattes)

Does Luna count as a minor character? If so, then Luna. I love how she marches to the beat of her own drum while remaining kind and compassionate.

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

Luna!

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

Professor McGonagall -She’s got a good heart but she won’t take any crap and can be a total BA when she needs or wants to be.

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

I have always liked Snape. He was a victim of bullying and he may have turned into a villain, he also has been victimized. It’s interesting seeing the “good” characters from a different light and for me that’s looking at Snape and seeing a whole new point of view for his character.

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

I think Neville was supremely underrated. (Neville is so awesome, I love it! His character developed so much but didn’t stray too far from his ol’ clumsy self, -Epicfied)

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Would you be a Death Eater or a member of the Order of the Phoenix?

I would definitely be a member of the Order, however, I could definitely see myself being a double-agent and playing both sides.

– Epicfied (Me!)

I’m a goody two shoes through and through, so I’d definitely be in the Order of the Phoenix.

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

Order of the Phoenix! I don’t want to be in a dictatorship.

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

Order of the Phoenix for sure.

– Stacey (Geeks and Lattes)

Order of the Phoenix.

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army for sure!

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

Definitely the Order of the Phoenix -I’m too good at heart to be a Death Eater.

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

Order of the Phoenix by far. I stand for everything they do and I would love to fight alongside Sirius Black.

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

I believe I would be the person who’d belong to one and be tasked with infiltrating the other. (We can infiltrate together<3)

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Who do you ship?

I, honestly, am not usually someone who ships in fandoms. Of course Hermione and Ron… I don’t ship Ginny and Harry… Luna and Harry would be amusing, but unfair to Ginny. I think Neville and Luna would be great together. I’d support Ginny and Harry more if it wasn’t so… sudden.

Ultimate ship would have to be Lily and Snape… I mean, come on.

– Epicfied (Me!)

I always wanted Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall to get it on if I’m being honest. I was always hoping Harry would turn a corner in Hogwarts and bump into those two having a major make out session. (I never even thought of that. Probably because I always thought he was gay… then JK Rowling confirmed. Dumbledore and Hagrid would be amusing… and cute.)

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

I don’t really do any of the ship stuff, I just accept what came out of the books as the only option. I stick to canon.

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

I don’t think I’ve ever “shipped” anyone in HP. I have many opinions on who shouldn’t have been together though, haha. Like Harry and Ginny…don’t even get me started on that one.

– Stacey (Geeks and Lattes)

Hermione & Ron <3

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

Luna and Neville!

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

Arthur & Molly -Despite their hardships they have a loving, strong & caring family. (They are so perfect<3)

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

I ship Ron and Hermione they are literally perfect for each other.

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

I honestly wish that Lily would have at least given Severus a chance, especially when James was out being a punk and bully. 😉 I would have also loved some cross-house love for Neville & Luna.

What would your patronus be?

The last time I answered this question, I said a snow leopard or white tiger… Though since re-listening (audiobook) the entire series, I want to lean more towards the idea of a white wolf (arctic wolf) or a wolf of some sort. Few people will understand the full meaning behind this… but let me know if you want me to do a whole post on it!

– Epicfied (Me!)

Well I love turtles, so I’d love it to be one of them, but me personality resonates somewhere between lazy sloth and playful puppy, so a puppy/sloth hybrid?

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

I really want it to be a phoenix. That would be the coolest patronus everr and I feel like it matches me well.

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

I jokingly say a hippo whenever I’ve discussed this with people, but it probably would be, I love hippos. (A big mean hippo or like… an adorable baby hippo? I can only imagine… changes with mood haha!)

– Stacey (Geeks and Lattes)

You know, I wonder this a lot. I think for me my potronus would be a dog of some kind. Something fierce but beautiful.

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

Snow Leopard (according to a quiz I took online once, and the description fit my personality)

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

Cannot believe I’ve never considered this question before. For the sake of time, and lots of thought I ran out to take a quiz…yep, I did that…I ended up with 2 different results from 2 different quizzes, both of which I find merit it

My Patronus is a Rabbit

Your patronus takes the form of a Rabbit. A rabbit is known for being somewhat shy. Similarly, you tend to be quiet around others, especially new people. However, you are very bright and alert. You are good at reading people and know who to trust. You are also nurturing and kind. You may have trouble conjuring your patronus because your mind tends to race in the heat of a battle

You got: A Horse

You’re loyal, smart, and willing to take risks for the sake of your friends and family. Your Patronus takes the form of a Horse, the same as Ginny Weasley. You’re an underrated badass and enemies should be cautious of your hexing skills.

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

A cat because that’s literally my favorite animal in the whole wide world.

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

A bird of prey. Though the Eagle represents Ravenclaw, I wouldn’t want to look overly patriotic.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Think if Moffat created Harry Potter. What’s the main difference?

Let’s just say there would be about 14 books because all of the deaths would be drawn out much more. And tears. Lots of tears.

– Epicfied (Me!)

Harry Potter was brutal enough without Moffat getting his hands on it, so he can bore off. (<333333)

– Emma (Scruffy Little Nerd Herder)

There’s oh so much more tears.

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

We still wouldn’t have all the movies out.

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

I think Moffat wouldn’t have done as good of a job in creating female characters that J.K. Rowling does. (This is such a great answer!)

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

Different people would be expendable, and I wouldn’t put it past time to take one of the of the BIG THREE (Harry, Ron, or Hermione)

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Anything else?

Yes, make sure you go check out all of the awesome Harry Potter posts I mentioned in the beginning. Some of these ladies are awesome and had Harry Potter on their mind this week!

– Epicfied (Me!)

I will ALWAYS love Harry Potter 😉

– Michelle Anneliese (A Geek Girl’s Guide)

I adore the Harry Potter series! One of my absolute favorites for so many reasons. Friendship, love, betrayal, family, and all under the blanket of magic. I love it!

– Heather (Life Love and Lasagna)

I am such a huge Potter nerd! (A Pott Head if you will) and I even joined the Hogwarts Running Club (yes it’s a real thing) to help get in shape, and am signed up for my first virtual run on April 16th which has an awesome Umbridge themed medal! <3 #HRCRavenclawesome!

– Kaitlin (Vivacious Hobo)

I would love to attend a feast in the Great Hall, as well as watch the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

– Jessica (The Nifty Nerd)

I have been a old school Harry Potter fan and this series is easily my gateway fandom I love it so much!

– Mariah (Bizarre Brunette)

Despite having it in my backyard, I still haven’t seen all of the Harry Potter expansion at Universal Studios Orlando. I need some proper Potterheads to go with me. (I haven’t seen it at all. I would love to!!!!)

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Thanks for tuning in!

Keep calm,
