Fandom Friday Q&A: SHERLOCK

Sherlock Fandom Friday

Ready for another fandom Friday? This week is Sherlock themed but before we get started, go check out Heather’s post about 6 Sherlock Fanart Pieces You MUST See.

On a scale of 1 – 10, how much do you suffer from the season hiatus (past and present)?

Since I just got into Sherlock a few months ago, I’ve not been effected by the horribly long hiatus they always take in between seasons. I got to binge watch all of Sherlock and then start the hiatus immediately. So far the withdrawals from no Sherlock hasn’t hit but I’m sure it will in a couple months.

– Kayla (Epicfied)

Well, I watch it on Netflix, so I’m at the mercy of the Netflix (& Sherlock) Gods as to when I get it. I’m used to waiting to watch my favorite shows so the season hiatus isn’t as bad for me.

– Heather (Prima Geek)

I suffered most in the wake of “The Reichenbach Fall.” I loved how “Many Happy Returns” presented many theories of what happened.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

How do you pass the time?

I definitely nerd out to other fandoms and stretch my wings out to fly.

– Kayla (Epicfied)

I re-watch the old episodes an embarrassingly amount of times.

– Heather (Prima Geek)

I’ve been playing catch up on TV series since I came back from Japan in 2009. I just start burning through the list of everything else I haven’t seen.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Does it make you love the show any more or less?

I think the hiatus just makes me appreciate the show when it does come out more. However, such a long break makes me lose some of my excitement in between the time.

– Kayla (Epicfied)

I honestly think it makes me love the show more. I have a greater appreciation for the episodes when there are new ones. I also feel like the episodes are better quality because they take so much more time to create them.

– Heather (Prima Geek)

It gives me a chance to revisit it just prior to it starting up again, and it’s like cozying up with an old friend.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Favorite character?

I really don’t know. I really like Irene Adler, of course Sherlock, and who couldn’t love John??

– Kayla (Epicfied)

Irene Adler! She is my absolute favorite Sherlock character. She’s feisty and independent and super confident. And I love the hold she has on Sherlock.

– Heather (Prima Geek)

Inspector LeStrade is SO underrated.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

What character do you connect with the most personally?

Oh boy… I really don’t know… I would like to think a mix of Sherlock and John. 😛

– Kayla (Epicfied)

While I adore Irene Adler, I identify with Molly Hooper the most. She is sweet and demure and hopelessly self-conscious. Molly is me in a character.

– Heather (Prima Geek)

I’d think I’m an odd combination of Mrs. Watson & Inspector LeStrade.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

How many have read the original stories and how does the BBC TV series compare to other live action incarnations? (Q. by Karen! THANKS!)

I know a lot of the back story and I think I’ve seen one of the movies that are out there… and then of course TV episodes of other shows that represent Sherlock, but really, not much.

– Kayla (Epicfied)

I do love the American films featuring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, but I think it’s because the action/physicality is a great contrast to how cerebral the BBC version is. I read the children’s versions of the books as a kid, but I would love to revisit them as an adult.

– Karen (Karen Nerds Out)

Anything else?

House from House MD is Sherlock. He even lives in 221B, and Wilson is his John. Just saying.
